Phoenix Pizza Festival 2019

Join us for the 5th Annual Phoenix Pizza Festival on Nov. 16th at Margaret T. Hance park in Downtown Phoenix from 11am-5pm!
About this Event

On November 16th, the 5th Annual Phoenix Pizza Festival will take over Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix. From 11am-5pm, festival goers can purchase and devour slices of pizza from about 20 of the best local pizza makers. Every vendor will offer a $2-$4 slice option on their menu.

Other festival highlights include: bars with craft beer and wine, live music, lawn games, a kid’s zone with pizza-making crafts, and free Arizona sunshine. Also, don’t miss dessert vendors offering everything from beignets to gelato.

Food vendors will accept cash and sometimes credit – so please bring cash! Drinks are cash only. ATMs will be on-site.

Phoenix Pizza Festival is proud to support Downtown Phoenix Inc., a community organization that promotes the continued revitalization of downtown Phoenix. Through collaboration between businesses, City of Phoenix leadership, and community groups, DPI coordinates activities that help make Phoenix a vibrant urban destination and one of the nation’s great cities.

Pizza-Making Class (08/25/18)

Pizza-Making Class – Menu:

  • Appetizer: Chopped Salad using Local Greens, Fruits, Almonds, and Spicy Honey Mustard
  • Entrée: Customized Pizzas
  • Dessert: Cannoli piped with Sweet Ricotta Cream and capped with Pistachios

About:

This class is as easy as pie – pizza pie, that is! With our wood-fired oven, you can make the pizza that your taste buds have always dreamed of. Once demos are over, the chef takes in students to roll, top, and cook their own dough while others enjoy their salad as they wait for their turn. Once everyone has their own pie baked and ready to be eaten, our staff then serves dessert.

  • $100 per person. Call to inquire about seasonal discounts.
  • We have a 72-hour cancellation policy. This means that you have three days before the class starts to cancel your reservation or change your party size.
    • If you have to cancel within this time period, you are subject to forfeiture of any payments made to this class or voucher usage.
  • No dietary restrictions or allergies will be accommodated for this class. If one or more items on tonight’s menu conflicts with your needs, please reserve spots for an alternative Pizza-Making Class.
    • However, we do have gluten free dough if you are celiac or gluten-intolerant.
  • Class size caps out at 24 people. Reservations are based on a ‘first come-first serve’ basis.
  • Class starts at 6:30pm sharp. Please be here at least 10 minutes early wearing comfortable clothes (preferably business casual) and closed-toed shoes. If you have long hair, be sure to tie it behind your head.

  • If you have a Groupon, TravelZoo, or any other applicable deal voucher for this class, please bring your voucher with you (printed out or on your phone) so our staff can redeem it.
  • Students will receive a full copy of all recipes for use at home.
  • Take a look at our staff and instructors page to get a feel over who may be teaching this class.
  • Tips for our staff for this night are not expected but are greatly appreciated. All proceeds are evenly distributed amongst our staff members.

Rio Salado College Pizza Making Workshop

Learn to make delicious pizzas at home from a professional chef. This 2 hour hands-on workshop will cover all of the basics of making a great pizza including making and proofing dough, making sauce, how to properly stretch a pizza, loading a pizza into the oven and a pizza toppings discussion. Enjoy slices of pizza for dinner towards the end of the workshop.

Rio Salado culinary workshops are designed for the beginner and are fun and low pressure. Workshops are hands on and participants will be standing for the majority of the workshop. Workshops are generally made up of 16 students and we work in teams of 4. We want the group to work safe, learn new techniques and recipes to their culinary repertoire and most importantly, HAVE FUN! Proper kitchen attire is required which includes: closed toe shoes, long pant and long or short sleeve shirt. Please restrain hair while in the kitchen.

Approximately 15 pizza makers will sell all types of pizzas, offered at $2-$4 slices and above (half-pies, full-pies, etc. depending on their preference). The event will include live bands, lawn games, desserts, local vendor marketplace, kid’s zone, and more. Eight craft beer and wine brands will operate individual bars. Soda, water, coffee, iced tea, and other beverages will be available, too! All tickets are General Admission, and all food/drink items cost extra once inside. The event is being produced by a founder of the Arizona Taco Festival, Scottsdale Beer Palooza, and Arizona BBQ Festival, to benefit the Downtown Phoenix, Inc. It is the mission of the Phoenix Pizza Festival to provide a signature community event for downtown Phoenix and become an annual celebration of the most perfect food ever – PIZZA!
