Victoria Garza, co-founder of Siete Family Foods , a family business making gluten-free tortillas, heard about cassava flour several years ago and even managed to find a little at a Latino market in Austin.

Sales growth of organic foods slips to 6.4% in 2017

From scandals over fraudulent organic grain imports and the revelation of several factory-scale farms producing certified organic milk and eggs , to controversy around the inclusion of hydroponic or “soilless” farming and the reversal of comprehensive animal welfare rules , not to mention last week’s termination of the organic checkoff proposal , one thing is clear: The organic industry’s rapid growth may also turn out to be its downfall.

Seeds of Change™ Grant Program Awards $310,000

Congratulations to the winners, and their communities.  Focused on organic seeds, and nutritious foods, Seeds of Change gave away $310,000 in grants to 12 community gardens and 12 school gardens.
