Mesa approves $10M to create tech corridor

The city of Mesa will spend $10 million on improvements on a stretch of Elliot Road in hopes of transforming it into the Valley’s newest “technology corridor,” reports The Arizona Republic. The city council approved a $10 million contract with Nesbitt Contracting Co. The contract includes street widening, storm-water harvesting areas, new street lights, landscaping, traffic signals and additional aesthetic improvements along Elliot between Ellsworth and Signal Butte, according to The Republic.

Arizona legislators revive bill to loosen restrictions on home businesses

Arizona lawmakers have revived a bill that would disallow cities from requiring licensing for home businesses so long as they are not a nuisance to neighbors, according to The Arizona Republic. The bill, Senate Bill 1387, would prevent cities and towns from requiring licenses for home businesses or from regulating what goes on inside homes, as long as activities are not illegal.

To be an accredited investor, individuals must have a net worth over $1M (excluding value of primary residence), or annual personal income over $200k, or annual family income over $300k.

While it is recommended that participants attend each workshop, it is not required.
